C. R. Weeks Elementary School was named in honor of Board of Education Member Clarence R. Weeks (born September 19, 1900, died March 3, 1981). Mr. Weeks was a School Board member for forty years (1930 – 1970), serving as board president and clerk. As the first president of the Broome County School Board Association, he was instrumental in planning the county’s BOCES program. In 1964 the school was named in his honor. Mr. Weeks owned and operated the C. R. Weeks Drygoods Store on Main Street in Windsor for thirty-three years and was a member of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his service in the field of education, he was active in many organizations of benefit to the community.
