Children in grades Pre-Kor K, 2 and 4, and any new entrants, regardless of grade level, are required by New York State law to have a physical. An examination done in New York State any time within 12 months of the start of the school year is acceptable. New legislation requires students entering sixth grade to be immunized against chicken pox ( varicella). . Also students who are entering 6th grade on or after 9/1/07 and who are 11 years of age or older must reveive an immunization containing Tetanus Toxoids, Diphtheria and Accellularpertussis (Tdap).
